I see your points but the other thing I notice when I pick my heads up from screens is how invasive is the use among young people. Seriously go to an airport, a restaurant or concert, and you will see the below 18 staring away. I saw a family of our recently, Dad, Mom and two kids who looked about 10 and 8 and during the 90 minutes in which our meals overlapped I did not see the kids put down the things, not once. How much is being missed?
Kids should not get smart devices until they turn 16. And no internet access in the house for kids that is not a public area such as the family room.
Agreed. 18 might be even better, but we're probably stuck with 16. At least schools are beginning to ban the things.
Kids learn from adults. If adults model the ability to look away from the screen, kids will learn it. If adults walk around with their heads in their phones all the time, kids will learn that this is how human beings behave.
