Greetings.
Welcome to the September edition of the Hardihood Books Newsletter. Thank you for supporting my work.
Housekeeping:
No news.
Next Month and Beyond:
Next month will be Halloween, and as usual I will include at least one or two seasonally-appropriate stories.
On Truth in Writing:
Recently, I finished Walt Harrington’s Artful Journalism. Harrington was a journalist at Washington Post Magazine for many years and taught journalism at the University of Illinois for two decades. He profiled George H.W. Bush, Rosa Parks, Jerry Falwell, Jesse Jackson, and others. He was known for “literary” or “narrative” journalism, which is characterized by long-form storytelling. Think of Tom Wolfe or Mike Sager or Gay Talese.
